Come March, and all Americans are minimizing expenses; and car insurance premiums usually get affected in this effort. But whatever you do, don't be careless about taking uninsured motorist coverage.
Brian Alfred, a sales rep with Liberty Mutual Insurance in California tells us that uninsured motorist car insurance coverage may cost less than $100 per year. A real cheap sum to pay; considering that not having such insurance means you get nothing if the driver who hits you has no car insurance. Moreover, it also covers any additional expenses which are not covered by the drivers car insurance policy.
Alfred tells us that in his county alone, 17% cars do not have car insurance. This means there is a 1 in 6 chance that the car that hits you would have no car insurance.
A small extra investment of about $100 in uninsured motorist car insurance per year could save you thousands of dollars in medical and other expenses, adds Alfred.
